How to Sell on Amazon UAE from India: 2026 Seller Guide
How to sell on Amazon UAE from India: the two account routes, documents, importer of record, shipping stock to Amazon.ae FBA, fees and common mistakes.
By Quickship Editorial Team · Published 21 October 2026
You can sell on Amazon UAE from India in two ways: register through Amazon Global Selling from India, or register directly on Amazon.ae with a UAE trade licence. In both cases your goods have to be imported into the UAE by a licensed importer of record before they can reach an Amazon.ae fulfilment centre. This guide covers the account routes, the documents, the customs step, the fees and the mistakes that delay a first shipment.
Two ways to sell on Amazon UAE from India
The route you pick decides which documents you need and where your money lands.
| Amazon Global Selling (from India) | Direct Amazon.ae registration | |
|---|---|---|
| Who it suits | Indian exporters with no UAE entity | Brands with a UAE trade licence |
| Registration | KYC details and a credit card (Amazon India) | Business email, phone, national ID such as Emirates ID, trade licence or Commercial Registration (or a Power of Attorney), a recent bank statement, credit card statement or utility bill, and a bank account (Amazon UAE) |
| Payouts | INR to your Indian bank account, per Amazon India | To the bank account you register |
| Customs in the UAE | You still need an importer of record | Your UAE company can import if it holds a customs code for the right activity |
Amazon India says you do not need an existing Amazon.in seller account to start selling internationally. Its UAE guide sets out four steps: register, list products, choose a fulfilment method, and get paid.
Documents you need before the first shipment
For exports from India, Amazon's Global Selling pages list these documents:
- IEC (Importer Exporter Code): a 10-digit number issued by DGFT, based on your business PAN.
- AD code: a 14-digit code from your bank, obtained after IEC registration.
- GST LUT: the filing that lets you export without paying IGST.
- Importer of record details: the UAE party that will import the goods.
- Commercial invoice cum packing list.
- Certificate of origin.
- Shipping and product documents as applicable: airway bill or bill of lading, certificate of inspection, and anything your category requires.
Amazon India says requirements vary by product and points sellers to its export compliance tools. Some goods are restricted in the UAE as well. Dubai Customs' policies booklet states that restricted goods cannot be released without approval from the competent authority. Check your category before you book freight.
The importer of record: who clears your stock in Dubai
Amazon India describes the importer of record (IOR) as the party responsible for import documentation, inspection, valuation and filing duties and taxes. It is listed as a required document, but the page does not say Amazon will act as your IOR. Plan on arranging one.
Dubai Customs rules explain why a foreign seller cannot simply clear its own goods. Under the client registration policy in the Dubai Customs booklet, anyone who deals with customs must hold a customs client code. That code is issued against a valid licence from a UAE licensing authority, and it covers only the activities in that licence. A separate policy says companies may import only goods that match their licensed activity.
In practice this means three checks on any IOR you use:
- It holds an active customs code (the booklet says a code is suspended if not renewed within 60 days of expiry, or if unused for six months).
- Its licensed activity covers your product category.
- It accepts responsibility for duty, import VAT and any inspection on your goods.
For the duty and VAT side, see our guide to customs duty and VAT on imports in the UAE. For a fuller look at the role, read importer of record in the UAE.
Shipping stock to Amazon.ae fulfilment centres
Once goods clear customs in Dubai, the Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) process takes over. Amazon's UAE FBA page sets out five steps:
- Create your seller account and log in to Seller Central. Amazon says you are then registered for FBA.
- Create listings and set them as FBA inventory.
- Prepare products to Amazon's packing guidelines and shipping and routing requirements.
- Create a shipping plan, print Amazon shipment ID labels and book a delivery appointment on Carrier Central.
- Send the shipment to the fulfilment centre on the confirmed appointment.
Amazon says products typically become available for sale within 48 to 72 hours after the fulfilment centre receives and processes them. That window does not include air or sea transit from India, or customs clearance in Dubai. Book the Carrier Central appointment only when you know when the goods will be released.
Amazon's Indian pages also describe a merchant-fulfilled option, where you handle shipping yourself. For a seller based in India, FBA is usually the practical route because the stock is already in the UAE when a customer orders.
Amazon UAE fees overview
These figures come from Amazon's UAE pricing page as published on 21 October 2026. Amazon changes rates and runs promotions, so check before you price.
| Fee | What Amazon.ae publishes |
|---|---|
| Selling plan | Professional plan with no monthly subscription fee, described as a limited-time offer |
| Referral fee | A percentage of the total price (item, shipping and gift wrap) or a minimum amount, whichever is greater. Most fall between 4.5% and 15% |
| Example referral rates | Apparel 15%, Home 15%, Consumer Electronics 7%, Mobile Phones 5%, All Other Categories 10%, mostly with a 1 AED minimum |
| FBA fulfilment fee | Starts at 7.5 AED per unit, varies by size |
| FBA storage | Monthly fee based on daily average volume in cubic feet |
| Long-term storage | Charged on inventory held over 365 days |
| VAT on fees | Fees are shown excluding VAT, and Amazon adds VAT on top |
Some categories use tiered rates. Beauty, for example, is listed at 8% for items priced at 50 AED or less and 15% above that.
A hypothetical example. Say you sell a cotton kurta on Amazon.ae for 100 AED through FBA. At the published Apparel rate, the referral fee is 15 AED. Add the FBA fulfilment fee for its size tier (from 7.5 AED), monthly storage and VAT on all of those fees. Then add your freight from India, clearance costs, duty and IOR charges. Run the numbers in Amazon's revenue calculator with your real dimensions before you commit stock.
Common mistakes Indian sellers make
- Shipping before an IOR is confirmed. Goods that arrive with no licensed importer sit at the port or airport and pick up storage charges.
- Assuming the IOR's licence covers everything. Dubai Customs ties the customs code to licensed activities. A licence for general trading may not cover cosmetics, food or regulated electronics.
- Mismatched paperwork. Dubai Customs' examination policy says officers reconcile the invoice with the packing list, certificate of origin, bill of lading and package marks. A quantity or value mismatch is an easy way to get a shipment pulled for checks.
- Ignoring restricted categories. Restricted goods need approval from the relevant authority before release. Get it before the goods leave India.
- Booking the FBA appointment too early. If clearance runs late, you miss the slot and have to rebook.
- Pricing without VAT on fees. Amazon's fees are quoted excluding VAT. Leave that out and your margin is lower than you planned.
- Weak packing lists. Dubai Customs lists mixed items in irregular packages without detailed packing lists as a reason for full inspection.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a UAE company to sell on Amazon UAE from India?
Not necessarily. Amazon's Indian Global Selling pages describe registering from India with KYC details and a credit card, without an existing Amazon.in seller account. Registering directly on Amazon.ae is different: Amazon's UAE seller pages ask for a Commercial Registration or trade licence. Either way, your stock still needs a licensed importer in the UAE to clear customs.
What is the referral fee on Amazon.ae?
It depends on the category. Amazon's UAE pricing page says most referral fees are between 4.5% and 15%, with a minimum per item in most categories. Apparel is listed at 15%, consumer electronics at 7% and mobile phones at 5%. Check the live table before you price, as Amazon changes rates and runs category promotions.
How long after my stock reaches the fulfilment centre can it go on sale?
Amazon's UAE FBA page says products typically become available for sale within 48 to 72 hours after the fulfilment centre receives and processes them. That clock starts only after customs clearance and delivery to the fulfilment centre, so plan the clearance time separately.
Which documents does an Indian exporter need for shipments to Amazon UAE?
Amazon's Indian guidance lists the IEC, AD code, GST LUT, importer of record details, a commercial invoice cum packing list and a certificate of origin, plus product-specific documents where they apply. Requirements vary by product, so check your category before the first shipment.
