Amazon vs Noon for Sellers: Which UAE Marketplace First?
Amazon vs noon for sellers in the UAE: referral fees by category, FBA vs FBN costs, payout timing, ads and Saudi expansion, so you pick the right first launch.
By Quickship Editorial Team · Published 22 October 2026
When comparing Amazon vs noon for sellers launching in the UAE, the honest answer is that neither is better across the board: the deciding factors are your category's referral fee, whether you want the Prime or FBN fulfilment route, how fast you need cash back, and whether Saudi Arabia is next. At the rates both platforms publish today, fulfilment costs for small items are almost identical, so category fees and payout timing usually decide it. This guide puts the two side by side, using only figures from Amazon's and noon's own seller pages.
If you already know which marketplace you want and need the registration steps, read our guides on how to sell on Amazon UAE and how to sell on noon. This post is about choosing between them.

Which marketplace has lower fees for your category?
Referral fees are where the two platforms differ most. Both charge a percentage of the sale price by category, with a 1 AED minimum in most categories, but the percentages are not the same. Here are matching categories from Amazon's UAE pricing page and noon's FBN fees in UAE:
| Category | Amazon.ae referral fee | noon referral fee |
|---|---|---|
| Apparel | 15% | 27% (Apparel, Footwear) |
| Mobile phones | 5% | 6% up to 500 AED, 5% above |
| Books | 15% | 15% |
| Watches | 15% up to 5,000 AED, 5% above | 15% up to 5,000 AED, 5% above |
| Furniture | 15% up to 750 AED, 10% above | 15% up to 750 AED, 10% above |
| Fine jewellery | 16% up to 1,000 AED, 5% above | 16% up to 1,000 AED, 5% above |
| Grocery / food | 5% up to 50 AED, 11% above | 9% (Food & Beverages) |
| All other categories | 10% | 14% |
Two warnings before you use this table for an Amazon vs noon fee check. First, noon publishes a separate exceptions sheet for some product types and brands, and lists referral changes for several categories effective 10 September 2026. Second, category names do not map one to one: noon splits electronics and beauty into many sub-types, often with one rate up to 50 AED and a higher rate above it. Find your exact product type on both pages.
A worked example (hypothetical)
Say a Dubai fashion brand sells a 100 AED T-shirt weighing 0.2 kg in a standard parcel. On Amazon.ae, the 15% apparel referral fee is 15 AED. On noon, the 27% rate is 27 AED, unless an exception applies. The FBA fee and the FBN outbound fee for that size, at a price above 25 AED, are both 9.2 AED. So before storage and 5% VAT on fees, the brand keeps about 75.8 AED per sale on Amazon.ae and 63.8 AED on noon. For a phone case or a book, the same sum would come out almost level.
FBA vs FBN: how fulfilment compares
Both marketplaces let you send stock to their fulfilment centres or keep it yourself.
Fulfillment by Amazon. Amazon stores, packs, delivers and handles customer service and returns for FBA orders. Its FBA page says qualified FBA listings show the Prime logo and are eligible for free one-day shipping for Prime members. The per-unit fee runs by size tier and weight, with a lower rate for items priced at 25 AED or less. Amazon also advertises an FBA New Selection programme with free storage and returns processing for eligible new products, for a limited time.
Fulfilled by noon. Stock sits in noon's fulfilment centres. Noon charges an outbound fee per unit when an order is first marked Delivered or Non-Delivered Return, based on dimensions, weight and sale price. The fee table effective 10 September 2026 matches Amazon's FBA table at the lighter end: for example, a standard parcel up to 0.25 kg costs 7.2 AED at 25 AED or less and 9.2 AED above, on both platforms.
Keeping the stock yourself. On Amazon, Easy Ship means you store and pack and Amazon delivers, for a shipping fee starting at 14 AED per shipment; Self-Ship means you deliver with your own carrier. On noon, Fulfilled by Partner keeps inventory at your location while noon handles delivery, except in its Direct Delivery model.
Long-term storage is the cost most first-time sellers miss. Both platforms charge extra on stock held more than 365 days, and noon also charges for non-saleable stock left in its centres over 30 days. Start with small, frequent inbound shipments until you know your sell-through.
How do payouts compare?
Cash cycle matters when you have one launch budget. Under FBA, Amazon's beginner's guide says it collects payment and pays available funds every two weeks, with fees deducted first.
Noon's payments processing policy is more detailed:
- A statement is generated every Wednesday covering delivered orders, returns, noon fees and compensation.
- Payment for that statement is processed on Thursday of the following week for UAE and KSA sellers.
- You are paid only if the weekly statement is positive and your balance meets the threshold: 100 AED or SAR if your bank account is in the marketplace currency, 1,000 AED or SAR if it is in a different currency.
- Below the threshold, the balance rolls over to the next cycle.
- Disputes about a statement must be raised within 15 days of its date.
For a seller paying a foreign supplier up front, a weekly cycle can make restocking easier to plan. Whichever you choose, reconcile every payout against your orders, returns and fees, line by line.
Advertising on Amazon.ae and noon
Both marketplaces sell ads inside their own search results, and on both, a new listing with no reviews usually needs some paid visibility.
- Amazon.ae offers Sponsored Products, which promote individual listings, and Sponsored Brands, which show your logo, a headline and up to three products in search results. Amazon says Brand Registry adds further advertising options, so register your trademark early.
- noon offers a self-serve suite called noon ads, run from Ad Manager and aimed at shoppers already searching for what you sell.
Amazon's Middle East global selling page also lists new-seller incentives, including advertising credit. Read the conditions; they change often.
Saudi expansion: Amazon.sa vs noon KSA
If Saudi Arabia is your second market, check how each platform gets you there before you choose the first one.
Amazon. Amazon.ae and Amazon.sa are separate stores. Amazon's Middle East page tells existing sellers to create "a UAE account, a Saudi Arabia account, or both", and lists cross-listing tools for products already on Amazon.com. The Amazon.sa seller page currently advertises a 30% referral fee discount for 60 days for new sellers who list their first products within 20 days of registering, capped at 150,000 SAR of sales and valid until 31 December 2026.
noon. Noon sells in the UAE, KSA and Egypt. Its eligibility page treats a business registered outside the country it sells in as an International Seller. Noon's documents page says every seller operating in KSA must give a valid VAT registration number, citing compliance with ZATCA, and that freelance certificates are no longer accepted for new KSA registrations.
In both cases, Saudi Arabia is a second set of listings, stock, fees in SAR and payouts. Plan it as a second launch, not a switch you turn on.
How to choose your first UAE marketplace
The Amazon vs noon decision for sellers comes down to a few checks. Use this order. Each step can settle the question before you reach the next one.
- Price your top five SKUs on both fee pages. Use the exact product type, not the family. A gap like apparel's 15% vs 27% decides it on its own.
- Check category approval. Amazon restricts some categories, such as certain grocery and automotive products, and asks for approval. UAE product rules, such as MOIAT certificates or Dubai Municipality's Montaji registration, apply on both; see our guide to product registration in the UAE.
- Search your category on both storefronts. Neither platform publishes UAE traffic by category, so look at best sellers, competing offers and price points yourself.
- Decide where stock will live. If you want the marketplace to hold stock, compare FBA and FBN fees for your sizes. If you already run a UAE warehouse, compare Easy Ship and FBP.
- Map the cash cycle. Weekly vs every two weeks changes how much working capital your first order ties up.
- Look one step ahead. If KSA is next, check VAT registration and the account route now.
Many brands start on one and add the other within months. If that is your plan, keep one stock count for both channels from day one; our guide to stopping overselling across Amazon, noon and Shopify shows how.
For brands based outside the UAE, Quickship's Marketplace Activation Module registers Amazon.ae and noon seller accounts and product registrations, then connects both marketplaces to the Inventory Module, so orders from either channel run against one stock figure. Quickship is a software company: your stock stays with Amazon, noon or your own logistics partner.
Frequently asked questions
Is it cheaper to sell on Amazon.ae or noon?
It depends on the category more than the platform. At the published UAE rates, apparel carries a 15% referral fee on Amazon.ae and 27% on noon, while mobile phones, watches, furniture and books are close or identical. Fulfilment fees for small parcels are the same on FBA and FBN, and noon's monthly storage rate is slightly lower.
Can I sell the same products on Amazon.ae and noon at the same time?
Yes. The two marketplaces are separate businesses with separate seller accounts, listings, stock and payouts, and neither stops you selling on the other. The risk is operational: if both draw on one stock pool, you need the available quantity updated on both channels or you will sell units you no longer have.
Do I need a UAE trade licence to sell on Amazon.ae or noon?
Not always. Noon accepts International Sellers whose company is registered outside the country they sell in, and Amazon lets sellers already on Amazon.com add a UAE account from the Sell Globally dashboard. Your goods still have to be imported into the UAE properly, which usually means an importer of record.
Which marketplace pays sellers faster?
Noon pays weekly: it generates statements every Wednesday and pays UAE and KSA sellers on Thursday of the following week, once a minimum threshold is met. Amazon.ae's beginner's guide says that under FBA it pays available funds every two weeks. Check both in the seller portal before you plan your stock purchases.
Can I sell on Amazon.sa and noon KSA with a UAE company?
On noon, a UAE company selling in Saudi Arabia registers as an International Seller, and noon requires every seller operating in KSA to give a valid Saudi VAT registration number. On Amazon, Amazon.sa is a separate account from Amazon.ae. Confirm the document list for your case in each portal, because requirements differ by seller type.
