How to Sell on Amazon UAE: Step-by-Step Guide (2026)

How to sell on Amazon UAE with a UAE trade licence: documents, verification, gated categories, FBA vs Easy Ship vs Self-Ship, fees, VAT and a 30-day checklist.

By Quickship Editorial Team · Published 21 October 2026

If you hold a UAE trade licence, here is how to sell on Amazon UAE: register a seller account on Amazon.ae, pass identity verification, list products (with category approval where needed), choose a fulfilment method, and price with Amazon's published fees in mind. Most of the work is getting documents to match and picking the right fulfilment model. This guide walks through each step for a UAE-based business, with a checklist for your first 30 days.

If your company is registered outside the UAE, read our guide to selling on Amazon UAE from India instead, as the account route and the customs step differ.

Step 1: Check your account type and plan

Amazon.ae currently offers the Professional selling plan with no monthly subscription fee, which its registration page describes as a limited-time offer. The beginner's guide also mentions an Individual plan for sellers with fewer than 40 items a month.

Two things to settle before you sign up:

  • Which plan. Amazon's pricing page presents Professional as the plan on offer. If you plan to sell more than a handful of items a month, compare the two plans in Seller Central before you choose.
  • Business seller account. Amazon's registration page notes that some categories require a Business seller account. Check this against the categories you want to sell in before you register.

You can start from an existing Amazon customer account or create a new one. Using a dedicated business email keeps the seller account separate from personal shopping.

Step 2: Prepare documents for registration and verification

Amazon's UAE registration page lists what you need:

Document What Amazon asks for
Contact Business email (or Amazon customer account) and a reachable phone number
Identity National ID, for example an Emirates ID
Proof of address Recent bank account statement, credit card statement or utility bill
Business registration Commercial Registration (trade licence) if you are the owner, or a Power of Attorney if you act as a legal representative
Payouts A bank account where Amazon can send your sales proceeds

Amazon says identity verification "protects sellers and customers", and the beginner's guide says you get access to Seller Central after it is complete. Amazon does not publish a fixed verification timeline on these pages.

Common reasons applications stall are simple ones: a name on the ID that does not match the trade licence, a proof-of-address document that is not recent, or a bank account in a different name. Check all four before you start.

Step 3: List your products and request category approval

Once you are in Seller Central, you either match an existing listing or create a new one. Amazon's beginner's guide sets out the basics:

  1. Product ID. Most products need a GTIN (UPC, EAN or ISBN). For products new to Amazon, you may need to buy a UPC or request an exemption.
  2. Title. Up to 200 characters.
  3. Images. At least 500 x 500 pixels, or 1,000 x 1,000 for high-quality listings, on a plain white background, with the product filling at least 80% of the frame.
  4. Brand Registry. Amazon says Brand Registry lets brand owners personalise brand and product pages, protect trademarks and use extra advertising options.

Gated (restricted) categories

Some categories are restricted. Amazon's guide names certain grocery and automotive products as examples and says Amazon may require performance checks, extra fees or qualifications. You request approval inside Seller Central, category by category.

On top of Amazon's own approval, some products need UAE regulatory clearance before they can be sold at all, such as cosmetics, detergents, food contact items and many electrical goods. Our guide to product registration in the UAE explains MOIAT certificates and Dubai Municipality's Montaji system. Sort that out before you buy stock, not after a listing is blocked.

Step 4: Choose FBA, Easy Ship or Self-Ship

Amazon.ae offers three fulfilment methods, described in its beginner's guide and pricing page:

Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) Easy Ship Self-Ship
Who stores stock Amazon fulfilment centre You You
Who packs Amazon You You
Who delivers Amazon Amazon collects and delivers You or your carrier
Returns Handled by Amazon Not stated in the guide Not stated in the guide
Main fees Referral fee, per-unit fulfilment fee, monthly storage Referral fee, Easy Ship weight-handling fee per shipment Referral fee only; you pay your carrier
Prime badge Qualified FBA listings Not stated Not stated

Amazon's FBA page says qualified FBA listings show the Prime logo. To send stock, you create listings as FBA inventory, prepare products to Amazon's packing rules, create a shipping plan, print shipment ID labels, and book a delivery appointment on Carrier Central. There is no minimum number of units per shipment.

How to decide. FBA suits fast-moving, small items where Prime matters. Easy Ship suits sellers who already hold stock in their own Dubai or Sharjah warehouse but want Amazon to handle the last mile. Self-Ship suits bulky or made-to-order items, or sellers with their own delivery fleet or courier contracts. Many sellers mix them by SKU.

If you use Easy Ship or Self-Ship, you own the handling time. Amazon's guide lists a handling time target of 1 day.

Step 5: Understand the fees on Amazon.ae

These figures come from Amazon's UAE pricing page as published on 21 October 2026. Amazon changes rates and runs promotions, so check the live page before you price.

Fee What Amazon.ae publishes
Referral fee A category percentage of the total price (item, shipping and gift wrap) or the category minimum, whichever is greater. Most are between 4.5% and 15%. Minimum is 1 AED in most categories
Example rates Consumer Electronics 7%, Apparel 15%, Books 15%, All Other Categories 10%. Grocery is 5% up to 50 AED and 11% above
FBA fulfilment fee By size tier and weight, with separate rates for items priced at or below 25 AED and above. Example: Standard Parcel up to 0.25 kg is 7.2 AED (25 AED or less) or 9.2 AED (above)
FBA storage 2 AED per cubic foot per month; long-term storage fees on stock held over 365 days
Easy Ship Weight-handling fee per shipment, starting at 14 AED for the first 250 g of a standard-size item
Self-Ship No Amazon fulfilment fee; referral fee still applies
VAT on fees All fees exclude VAT; VAT is added on top

A hypothetical example. Say a Dubai brand sells a phone case for 40 AED through FBA. If the case falls under a 15% category, the referral fee is 6 AED. Add the FBA fee for its size tier and price band, a share of monthly storage, and 5% VAT on all of those Amazon fees. Then compare that with Easy Ship for the same item. Run both through Amazon's revenue calculator with real dimensions before you decide.

Step 6: Get VAT and payouts right

Amazon's fees carry VAT, but your own VAT registration is set by the Federal Tax Authority. The FTA's registration page says:

  • Mandatory registration applies when taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 over the previous 12 months, or are expected to in the next 30 days.
  • Voluntary registration is open from AED 187,500 of taxable supplies, imports or taxable expenses over the same periods.

If you are VAT registered, keep Amazon's tax invoices for its fees, as that VAT may be recoverable under the normal rules. Take advice from a tax adviser on your own position.

On payouts, Amazon's beginner's guide says that under FBA, Amazon collects customer payments and pays available funds every two weeks. It does not state the timing for Easy Ship or Self-Ship on that page; check the payments section of Seller Central.

Step 7: Watch the performance targets

Amazon's beginner's guide lists the targets your account is measured on:

Metric Target
Order defect rate Under 1%
Pre-fulfilment cancel rate Under 2.5%
Late shipment rate Under 4%
Handling time 1 day

Cancellations usually come from selling stock you no longer have. If you also sell on Noon or your own site, read our guide on how to stop overselling across Amazon, Noon and Shopify.

Your first 30 days on Amazon UAE: a checklist

  1. Days 1 to 3: Confirm the trade licence covers the products you plan to sell. Gather Emirates ID, proof of address and bank details in matching names.
  2. Days 1 to 7: Register on Amazon.ae and complete identity verification.
  3. Week 1: Check whether each product needs MOIAT or Dubai Municipality approval, and whether its Amazon category is gated. Apply for category approval in Seller Central.
  4. Week 2: Get GTINs or exemptions. Build listings with compliant titles and white-background images. Apply for Brand Registry if you own a trademark.
  5. Week 2: Choose FBA, Easy Ship or Self-Ship per SKU, using real dimensions in the revenue calculator.
  6. Week 3: For FBA, prepare and label stock, create a shipping plan and book a Carrier Central appointment. For Easy Ship or Self-Ship, set handling times you can meet every day.
  7. Week 3: Check your VAT position against the FTA thresholds and record Amazon's fee invoices.
  8. Week 4: Review account health weekly: defect rate, cancellations and late shipments. Fix stock sync before you scale.

Getting help with the setup

Quickship's Marketplace Activation module is built mainly for brands outside the UAE: it opens Amazon.ae and Noon seller accounts, prepares product registrations and connects marketplace orders to Quickship's inventory and shipping software. If you already have a UAE licence, the steps above are ones you can run yourself.

Frequently asked questions

What documents do I need to register as an Amazon.ae seller?

Amazon's UAE seller page lists a business email or Amazon customer account, a phone number, a national ID such as an Emirates ID, a recent bank statement, credit card statement or utility bill, a Commercial Registration (or a Power of Attorney if you are a legal representative), and a bank account for your sales proceeds. Make sure the names match across all of them.

Is there a monthly fee to sell on Amazon UAE?

At the time of writing, Amazon.ae says the Professional plan has no monthly subscription fee, as a limited-time offer. You still pay a referral fee on each sale, plus fulfilment and storage fees if you use FBA or Easy Ship. Check the pricing page before you sign up, because the offer can end.

Do I need to register for VAT before selling on Amazon.ae?

Amazon does not set the rule; the Federal Tax Authority does. The FTA's mandatory threshold is AED 375,000 of taxable supplies and imports over the previous 12 months, or expected in the next 30 days, and the voluntary threshold is AED 187,500. Amazon's fees are quoted excluding VAT, with VAT added on top.

Can I sell in any category on Amazon.ae straight away?

No. Amazon's beginner's guide says some categories, such as certain grocery and automotive products, are restricted. You request approval in Seller Central, and Amazon may ask for performance checks, extra fees or qualifications. Some categories also need a Business seller account.

How long after sending stock to FBA can I start selling?

Amazon says FBA products typically become available for sale within 48 to 72 hours after the fulfilment centre receives and processes them. That clock only starts once your stock arrives on the booked Carrier Central appointment.
