Ramadan demand forecasting means turning your past sales into a unit target for each product before the season starts. Line up last year's sales by Ramadan day, not by calendar date. Then work out your uplift against a normal-week baseline, apply it to today's baseline, and add a safety buffer.
Today is 30 October 2026. White Friday is four weeks away and Ramadan is about 100 days away. That gives you time to plan stock for both.
What dates should you plan around?
Plan around Ramadan 2027 starting on about 8 February, and Eid Al Fitr on 9 or 10 March 2027. Gulf News reports that Ramadan is expected to begin on 8 February in the UAE. It lasts 29 or 30 days, so Eid Al Fitr falls on Tuesday 9 March or Wednesday 10 March. The exact date is confirmed only after the crescent is sighted.
The National adds that if Ramadan runs 30 days, the UAE gets a four-day public holiday combining Ramadan 30 with the Eid break. It also notes that Islamic dates shift earlier by about 10 to 12 days each Gregorian year. This is why last year's calendar dates will not match this year's. If you sell in Saudi Arabia, check the official Saudi announcement, because the start can differ from the UAE's.
Here is a planning timeline counted back from 8 February 2027. The dates are approximate.
| Approx. date | Days before Ramadan | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 10 Nov 2026 | 90 | Finish the forecast. Place orders for products with long lead times. |
| 10 Dec 2026 | 60 | If your total lead time is about 50 days, this is your last order date with a 10-day buffer. |
| 9 Jan 2027 | 30 | Stock received, counted and booked into your warehouse or marketplace fulfilment. Listings and ads ready. |
| 25 Jan 2027 | 14 | Pre-Ramadan shopping starts. Check stock levels daily. |
Use your own supplier lead times. They vary by product, origin and shipping mode.
How does Ramadan demand forecasting work with past sales?
It works by comparing each season's sales to a normal baseline, then applying that ratio to this year's baseline. Follow these steps for each top SKU.
- Export daily sales for each SKU. Pull at least the last one or two Ramadan and Eid seasons. Include Amazon.ae, Amazon.sa, noon, your Shopify, Salla or Zid store, and any offline channel.
- Re-label dates as Ramadan days. Mark the first day of Ramadan as Day 1. Days before are negative, Eid is the end point. Now last year's Day 20 can be compared with this year's Day 20.
- Set a baseline. Take the average daily units from a normal stretch, for example the eight weeks before the pre-Ramadan run-up. Exclude promotion days and stock-out days.
- Split the season into phases. Common phases are the pre-Ramadan stock-up, the first weeks, the last ten days with Eid gifting, and the Eid week. Calculate the average daily units in each phase.
- Calculate the uplift. Divide each phase's daily average by the baseline. A result of 1.5 means 50% above normal.
- Correct for stock-outs and discounts. If you ran out on Day 24, your real demand was higher than your sales. If a deep discount drove a spike, do not repeat that uplift unless you plan the same discount.
- Apply the uplift to this year's baseline. Multiply phase by phase. Add growth or decline if your normal sales have changed since last year.
- Add safety stock, then subtract what you have. Subtract on-hand and inbound units to get your order quantity.
What does a worked example look like?
The numbers below are hypothetical. They show the method, not what your product will do.
Say an online seller in Dubai sells a gift set at a baseline of 20 units a day. From past seasons, the seller finds these uplifts.
| Phase | Days | Uplift | Units a day | Units |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-Ramadan (25 Jan to 7 Feb) | 14 | 1.3 | 26 | 364 |
| Ramadan Days 1 to 20 | 20 | 1.1 | 22 | 440 |
| Ramadan Days 21 to 30 (Eid gifting) | 10 | 1.8 | 36 | 360 |
| Eid week | 7 | 0.8 | 16 | 112 |
| Total | 1,276 |
Add a 15% safety buffer and the target is about 1,470 units. If 300 are already on hand or inbound, the seller orders about 1,170. The 15% is a choice, not a rule. Set it using how reliable your supplier is and how costly a stock-out would be.
Ramadan may last 29 days, so the last phase may be nine days. Update the sheet once the dates are confirmed.
How do White Friday and Ramadan overlap in your stock plan?
White Friday sells down the same stock you want to hold for Ramadan, so plan the two together. Quiqup lists White Friday 2026 as Friday 27 November, running to Cyber Monday on 30 November, and says most UAE retailers promote across much of November. Digiflow reports that Amazon.ae and noon both ran 20 to 30 November in 2025, and that neither had confirmed 2026 dates when it was published. Check the promotion pages in Amazon.ae Seller Central and the noon seller portal for the dates and deadlines that apply to you. One third-party source gives 19 November as an Amazon seller deal deadline. Treat that as unverified until you see it in your own account.
Three practical rules:
- Forecast White Friday on its own. Use a separate baseline and uplift. Do not mix it into the Ramadan numbers.
- Check the 90-day mark. Ramadan orders are due around 10 November, before you know how White Friday will go. Order Ramadan stock first, then reorder if November sells faster.
- Watch the discount depth. A 40% discount in November can pull forward buyers who would have bought at full price in February.
What changes during Ramadan itself?
Working hours and delivery windows change, so your lead times get longer. On 12 February 2026, MoHRE announced a two-hour daily cut in normal private-sector working hours for Ramadan. Companies may use flexible or remote work within the daily limits. The decision implements the executive regulations of Federal Decree-Law 33 of 2021.
That was the 2026 announcement. Check MoHRE for the 2027 one when it is published. If your suppliers, warehouse or couriers in the UAE shorten their hours, add a few days of buffer to lead times and set earlier cut-off times for same-week delivery promises.
Ask your couriers about their Ramadan and Eid schedules before you promise delivery dates in listings.
What mistakes make Ramadan forecasts miss?
- Matching by calendar date. Ramadan moves about 10 to 12 days earlier each year, so the same dates last year were a different part of the season.
- Reading sales as demand. Stock-out days show low sales that were really lost sales.
- Using one uplift for every product. Gift items, food and household goods peak at different times.
- Counting orders instead of deliveries. With COD, refused orders can inflate demand.
- Ignoring the Eid drop. Demand can fall after Eid. Excess stock then sits until the next peak.
- Ordering once. Where your supplier allows it, split the order into a main batch and a top-up.
Where does stock software help?
Software helps most by keeping one clean sales history across channels, which is what steps 1 to 3 need. If your sales sit in Amazon.ae, noon, Shopify and a spreadsheet, the export alone takes hours. Quickship's Inventory module is built for multi-warehouse stock with Amazon, noon and Shopify sync. Once you have the totals, the Sourcing module can handle supplier RFQs, quotes and purchase orders for the reorders. Quickship is a software company only. It does not store, ship or fulfil your goods.
Start with your five best-selling SKUs this week. Build the Ramadan-day table, calculate the uplift and check it against your lead times. Then repeat for the rest.
Frequently asked questions
How many years of sales data do I need?
Two past Ramadan seasons give you a far better read than one, because you can see which spike was normal and which was a one-off promotion. With one season, treat the uplift as a rough guide and keep a larger safety buffer. With no history, forecast from a similar product you already sell and reorder in smaller batches.
Should I forecast by SKU or by category?
Forecast your top SKUs one by one, since they usually carry most of your revenue. Group slow sellers by category and apply the category uplift. Gift sets, dates, dried fruit, abayas and home items can behave very differently from each other, so avoid one uplift for the whole store.
How do COD orders change the forecast in Saudi Arabia and the UAE?
Forecast delivered demand, not orders placed. Cash on delivery orders can be refused or returned, and the share can shift during busy periods. Use your own delivered-versus-placed ratio from past seasons, split by city if you have enough data.
Can I use WhatsApp to test demand before I buy stock?
Yes, but only message contacts who opted in, as both the UAE and Saudi personal data protection laws expect. A back-in-stock or early-access list is a reasonable signal of interest. Treat it as one input, not a guarantee of sales.
