Amazon FBA UAE Requirements: Labels, Prep and Appointments
Amazon FBA UAE requirements for your first inbound shipment: FNSKU labels, packaging prep, box content info and Carrier Central appointments, step by step.
By Quickship Editorial Team · Published 28 October 2026
Amazon FBA UAE requirements for a first inbound shipment come down to four things: an eligible product, correct Amazon labels on every unit, compliant packaging, and a confirmed delivery appointment. Miss one and the shipment can be delayed or processed manually at your cost. This guide covers what Amazon has published, flags what it has not, and gives a checklist you can run before your first truck leaves.
One caution first. Amazon's detailed Seller Central UAE help pages sit behind the seller login. Some rules below come from Amazon's general prep guidance and older UAE documents. Each is marked. Check them against your own Seller Central account before you print labels or book a truck.
What are the Amazon FBA UAE requirements before you send stock?
Before you ship anything, you need a selling account, FBA enrolment, an eligible product and a plan for import and customs.
- Account and FBA. Amazon.ae says creating a selling account registers you for FBA automatically. You then mark inventory as FBA on the listing.
- FBA New Selection. If you want the programme's free shipping to a fulfilment centre and free storage offers (conditions apply), Amazon.ae's FBA page and Seller Central say to enrol before sending your first inventory. Read the conditions on the page. Do not assume the offer covers your product.
- Eligibility. Alcoholic beverages, tyres and hazardous materials are not eligible. Products with expiry dates must meet shelf-life requirements before enrolment.
- Documents. Amazon's UAE start-selling guide (May 2022, so it may have changed) lists the trade licence for businesses. A power of attorney is needed only if you are a legal representative.
- Importer of record. The same guide says an importer of record is required to sell in the UAE, and that FBA stock must meet package and customs duty requirements. Your customs broker or freight forwarder handles clearance. VAT registration is a separate question. Take advice from a UAE tax adviser or the Federal Tax Authority.
Say a brand in Istanbul wants to send 200 units to the Dubai fulfilment centre. It needs an importer of record and a broker for clearance before the labelling question even matters.
How do you label units for FBA on Amazon.ae?
Every unit needs a scannable Amazon label (FNSKU), and every carton needs a shipment ID label. Amazon.ae's FBA workflow says you create a shipping plan, then print the Amazon shipment ID labels.
Amazon's general rules, from its Sell blog and an FBA team forum post, are:
| Label rule | What to do |
|---|---|
| Surface | Place on a smooth, flat area. Avoid corners, edges, curves and seams. |
| Original barcodes | Cover any UPC, EAN or ISBN if there is no extra packaging. |
| Extra packaging | If you add bubble wrap or a bag, put the label on the outside. |
| Quality | Labels must scan. Damaged or photocopied labels are not accepted. |
| Coverage | Label each unit, not just the carton. |
These are US-published rules. Amazon applies the same scanning logic worldwide, but confirm any UAE-specific wording in Seller Central.
Why label quality matters
If the receiving team cannot scan a unit, it cannot be matched to your listing. Print on a laser or thermal printer and test-scan a sample before you label the whole batch. Do not print at a shop that resizes the file.
How should you prep and package products for the UAE fulfilment centre?
Prep each unit so it survives handling and scans cleanly. Amazon's general prep guidance says:
- Amazon does not accept units that need multi-piece assembly.
- Loose units must be bagged or secured with a non-adhesive band or removable tape.
- Footwear must have no exposed material. Use shoe boxes, or poly bags with a suffocation warning.
- Fragile items need protective packaging, with the label on the outside.
The FBA team post lists packing peanuts, crinkle wrap, shredded paper, polystyrene (Styrofoam) and thermocol chips as not accepted. Use air pillows, bubble wrap or corrugated inserts instead.
UAE-specific points matter here. Dubai's summer heat and humidity are hard on cartons and tape during transit from Jebel Ali or an inland warehouse. Use strong outer cartons. Also check Arabic and English labelling needs for your product category with the relevant UAE authority, because that is outside Amazon's prep rules. We could not verify category rules from official government pages for this post.
Quick prep check by product type
| Product type | Main prep risk | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Apparel | Loose items | Poly bag, label outside |
| Footwear | Exposed material | Shoe box or poly bag with suffocation warning |
| Glass or ceramics | Breakage | Bubble wrap, label outside |
| Sets or kits | Multi-piece assembly | Sell as a ready-to-sell unit or do not send |
| Food or cosmetics | Expiry dates | Meet shelf-life rules; show expiry on the box info |
What box content information does Amazon need?
Amazon needs to know what is in each carton. According to the FBA team post, you give the quantity of each ASIN per box, plus the box weight, dimensions and any expiry date. Skipping this triggers manual processing fees. The post gives no figures, so check the current fee in Seller Central.
Keep a packing sheet per carton. Say a seller packs 60 phone cases and 40 chargers across 2 cartons. The sheet should show exactly how many of each ASIN sits in carton 1 and carton 2. Do not mix a loose handful of units "to fill up".
How do you book an Amazon FBA delivery appointment in the UAE?
You book an appointment through Carrier Central after the shipping plan is made and the labels are printed. Amazon.ae's FBA workflow says to book the appointment, then send the shipment once it is confirmed.
Amazon's UAE Carrier Central guide is dated (around 2018), so timings may have changed. It says:
- Request one appointment per truck.
- Make each request at least 24 hours before the Carrier Requested Delivery Date.
- Wait for the confirmation email. It carries the appointment number, called the ISA (Inbound Shipment Appointment).
- Give the ISA to your driver. The driver shows it to gatehouse security.
- Deliver inside the confirmed slot.
The sample confirmation in that guide names DXB3 as the fulfilment centre. Your own confirmation will name the site Amazon assigns.
Treat 24 hours as the bare minimum. The forum post advises booking the carrier well ahead. Trucks from Sharjah, Jebel Ali or KEZAD still need a loading slot, a driver and a clear route into Dubai.
What are the most common first-shipment mistakes?
- Printing labels before the plan is final. Changing quantities after printing means reprinting.
- Leaving old barcodes uncovered. The scanner may read the wrong code.
- Labelling on seams or curves. The label peels or will not scan.
- Skipping box content info. This can trigger manual processing fees.
- Booking the truck late. Your carrier then misses the slot.
- No importer of record. Customs stops the goods before Amazon sees them.
- Sending ineligible goods. Alcohol, tyres and hazardous materials are out.
Where does software help?
Software does not label or pack your goods. It keeps your records straight: which ASIN, how many units, which carton and which supplier. If you are a brand abroad that needs Amazon.ae and noon seller accounts set up, see Quickship's Marketplace Activation module. If you also run stock across several warehouses and channels, the Inventory module handles multi-warehouse counts with Amazon, noon and Shopify sync. Quickship is a technology company. It does not ship, store, clear or fulfil goods.
Pre-shipment checklist
- Account active and FBA New Selection enrolment done, if you want it.
- Products confirmed eligible and shelf-life rules met.
- Importer of record and customs broker agreed.
- FNSKU labels printed, test-scanned and applied.
- Packaging checked against Amazon's prep rules.
- Box content information complete for every carton.
- Appointment requested, ISA received and passed to the driver.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an appointment for a small FBA parcel delivery in the UAE?
Amazon's US carrier manual excludes small parcel from the appointment rule, but that is US material and we could not confirm it for the UAE. Amazon's UAE Carrier Central guide describes one appointment per truck. Check the inbound page in your Seller Central UAE account for your shipment type before you book a carrier.
Can I reuse the original manufacturer barcode instead of an FNSKU label?
Amazon's general guidance says the Amazon label must be scannable and must cover any original UPC, EAN or ISBN barcode on the unit. Whether your product can use manufacturer barcodes depends on how the listing is set up in Seller Central. Confirm the setting for each ASIN before printing labels.
What happens if my carrier misses the appointment?
Amazon's Carrier Central portal says no-call no-shows and late cancellations count as a defect against the carrier. Amazon also requires carriers to stay under a set defect rate to keep delivering. Pick a carrier that books and confirms the slot, and send them the appointment number.
Does FBA mean I do not need an importer of record in the UAE?
No. Amazon's UAE start-selling guide says an importer of record is required to sell in the UAE and that FBA stock must meet package and customs duty requirements. Ask your customs broker or freight forwarder who acts as importer of record for your shipment.
Can I send alcohol, tyres or hazardous goods to FBA?
No. Amazon.ae lists alcoholic beverages, tyres and hazardous materials as not eligible for FBA. Products with expiry dates must also meet shelf-life requirements before enrolment.
